Dr. Rebecca Fountain earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from San Diego State University (SDSU) with cum laude distinction and acknowledgment of merit from the Psi Chi and Phi Beta Kappa honors societies. Rebecca completed her pre-doctoral internship at Glendale Adventist Hospital’s Family Medicine Center, treating individuals of all ages and diagnoses. Previously, Rebecca worked as a clinical research assistant for the internationally recognized PEERS program at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), where she worked with adolescents on the Autism Spectrum to build social skills and former deeper relationships with others. Rebecca then went on to work as a practicum student at Kedren’s inpatient psychiatric hospital for adults with severe mental illness, where she conducted diagnostic evaluations and assessments. More recently, Rebecca worked as a practicum intern for Renewed Freedom Center, a specialized treatment center for anxiety disorders and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). In this setting that Rebecca continued her focus on anxiety treatment, and she recently completed her dissertation on the efficacy of CBT and mindfulness treatment for adults with OCD.
Rebecca’s primary focus of interest is in working with individuals struggling with anxiety and stress. She is also interested in the adaptation of internet-based therapy for individuals, in an effort to make specialized anxiety treatment more accessible and cost-effective for those who need it. Rebecca’s therapeutic style is very active and directive, and she primarily utilizes a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) theoretical orientation.
